Photovoltaic technology will produce enough affordable sustainable energy and has specific advantages as an energy source: once installed, its operation generates no pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

PV system consists of an arrangement of several components, including solar panels to absorb and convert sunlight into electricity, a solar inverter to convert the output from direct to alternating current, a battery bank to store electrical energy, mounting, cabling, and other electrical accessories to set up a working system, an optional solar tracking system.

The key part is as follows: Sun's radiation, PV modules, controller, battery and inverter.‍

PV module: monocrystalline solar panels perform better than polycrystalline

The efficiency of a module determines the area of a module given the same rated output. Some commercially available solar modules exceed 24% efficiency. Scientists from Spectrolab have reported a new world record of 40% for solar photovoltaic cells.

PV installations may be ground-mounted, rooftop-mounted, wall-mounted or floating.

PV system Composition:

The composition of off-grid solar power system includes solar PV Array, inverter, battery, controller and measure equipment.

Applications:

WFP Armenia has provided a community of Lusakert village, Armenia's Shirak region with a new solar station. The establishment of this 20kWh solar station also benefited from technical support provided by Chinese experts through an online webinar organized by the WFP China Centre of Excellence for Rural Transformation, allowing the local residents to save around 1.4 million AMD (around US$ 3,000) yearly for 25 years.
