Intro: China’s government attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction. Here is an outline of China’s poverty relief international cooperation excerpted from Yearbook of China’s Poverty Alleviation and Development, 2020.

International exchanges and cooperation in poverty alleviation are an important content of poverty alleviation and development, and also an important part of China’s overall strategy of opening to the outside world. As the country’s battle against poverty has reached a crucial stage of securing a decisive and complete victory, how to tell China’s stories of poverty alleviation and recommend China’s solutions of poverty alleviation has become an important subject in China’s international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction.

In 2019, the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP) took vigorous approaches and made continuous innovations in the international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction: enhancing, holding international conferences and organizing training for poverty reduction.

On the whole, the LGOP’s poverty alleviation in 2019 has three distinct characteristics. First of all, external publicity was effectively combined with exchanges and sharing. Secondly, concerted efforts were made by the government and the civil force in poverty alleviation. Thirdly, multilateral and bilateral activities reinforced each other and innovative practices were carried out in the exchanges, external publicity and experience sharing on poverty reduction.

In the next step, the LGOP will make new advances in poverty alleviation and the development of major country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics by telling China’s poverty alleviation stories and publicizing China’s solutions of poverty alleviation while centering around the overall goal of building a community with shared future for mankind. Specific plans include coordinating institutional activities, innovating methods, broadening channels, producing exquisite products, creating a favorable atmosphere and displaying the country’s image in poverty alleviation. Besides, it will actively implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and strive to build a community with a shared future for mankind featuring poverty eradication and common development.
