Intro: China’s government attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction. Here is an outline of China’s poverty relief international cooperation excerpted from Yearbook of China’s Poverty Alleviation and Development, 2019.
The international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction is an important task of the poverty alleviation and development path with Chinese characteristics and an important part of China’s overall opening up strategy. As China is entering a stage of securing a decisive victory in poverty alleviation, the international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction has gradually become a major task of China's overall foreign cooperation.
In 2018, China’s State Council Leading Group Office on Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP) actively engaged in and made continuous innovation in international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction, thus making remarkable progress in various aspects. There are four characteristics in LGOP’s work as a whole:
·Firstly, it is more closely integrated with China’s general diplomacy.
·Secondly, LGOP have expanded the scope of international exchanges in poverty reduction. There has been a noticeable increase in the number of countries, representative types and personnel engaging in poverty reduction activities.
·Thirdly, LGOP have strengthened innovation in poverty reduction. Innovation was carried out in activities such as poverty reduction exchanges, publicity on poverty alleviation and experience sharing.
·Fourthly, LGOP have strengthened cooperation between and among departments. Through close collaboration with departments such as the Publicity Department of China’s Central Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in publicizing China’s experience of poverty alleviation, a pattern of all sectors of society spreading Chinese concepts and experience of poverty alleviation has formed.
Next,LGOP will focus on publicizing China’s poverty alleviation experience and promoting China’s poverty alleviation schemes, further strengthen exchanges and sharing of poverty reduction experience, continue to promote international cooperation in poverty reduction and actively implement the United Nations’2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for the ultimate purpose of building a community of shared future for mankind featuring zero poverty and common development.
