Sri Lanka Project: Strengthening the Resilience and Livelihood of Vulnerable Smallholder Farmers to Climate-related Risks in Sri Lanka in 2020 (Photo courtesy of WFP China COE )

By leveraging Chinese expertise in rice and maize value chains, this South-South Cooperation pilot project with China aims to equip smallholder farmers in Monaragala and Anuradhapura districts as well as government rural extension officers with relevant knowledge, skills and technologies to increase productivity and reduce post-harvest losses while enhancing access to markets.Collaborating with Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Science (JAAS), the online training is under preparation. The content of the online courses covers topics like Rice Quality Assurance from Field to Table, The Evolution and Development Trend of Social Services in Agriculture, China's Experience on Development of Market Opportunities and Linkage, Solution of Whole Process Mechanization for Rice and Solution of Whole Process Mechanization for Maize.
