Training Workshop on Value Chain Development for Smallholders through South-South Cooperation

During 29 July to 7 August 2018, WFP China Office, supported by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China (MARA), organized the Training Workshop on Value Chain Development for Smallholders through South- South Cooperation in Beijing, Zhejiang and Hainan provinces of China.


A total of 11 participants from 5 countries joined the workshop, including technical experts, management personnel for food authority, leading farmers of grain associations from government of Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon and Senegal, as well as WFP officers from these Country Offices. The training workshop was proceeded with an integrated approach to share China's solutions and technologies on value chain development for smallholder farmers, including lectures and briefings by Chinese experts, technical discussions with agricultural scientific research institutions at national level, and field visits to agricultural processing factories and enterprises in Zhejiang province and Hainan province. In Zhejiang Province, participants paid a visit to Alibaba Headquarters in Hangzhou, and were exposed to E-commerce integration for value chain development in ruralChina.
