Dr. Zhang Hongyu holds a Ph.D. in Management. He is the President of China Agricultural Risk Management Society, the Vice-president of China Institute for Rural Studies, Tsinghua University, Specially appointed expert of the talent pool of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference for participating in and deliberating on state affairs. He is a member of the Rural Vitalization Committee of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Office of Central Rural Work Leading Group, CPC, and a Member of China Economic and Social Council. 

He is also the Director of Institute of New Rural Development, Peking University, and the former Director General of Department of Rural Economic System and Management, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Dr. Zhang has participated in drafting many important documents of the central government, including No.1 Document of the Central Government. He has presided major research projects of international organizations such as FAO and World Bank, as well as the National Social Science Fund of China. He has published several individual monographs and hundreds of papers in People's Daily, Economic Research Journal and other newspapers and magazines.
