2022 International Seminar on Global Poverty Reduction Partnerships

I. Background

2022 International Seminar on Global Poverty Reduction Partnerships is an institutionalized international platform for sharing poverty reduction experiences, jointly launched by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the World Food Programme and the China Internet Information Center. It aims to enhance poverty reduction partnerships, exchange poverty reduction experiences of countries, strengthen knowledge sharing and establish an efficient exchange mechanism and promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Since 2017, the seminar has been held in Rome, Italy, Gansu and Beijing, China for five times, effectively promoting knowledge sharing on poverty reduction worldwide. The participants in the seminar came from relevant government departments, United Nations agencies and international organizations, diplomatic missions, NGOs, academia and private sector.

Affected by the covid-19 pandemic, the 2022 seminar will continue to be held in a combination of online and offline, under the theme of "Shared Development -Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Rural Revitalization" for policy dialogue and practical experience sharing.

II. Date and Location

The seminar will be held in the afternoon of November 11, 2022 (Friday), in the form of online and offline combination. The offline venue is located in the Beijing Conference Center, Building No.9.

III. Hosts

The seminar will be co-hosted by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the World Food Programme and the China Internet Information Center.

IV. Theme

Theme: Shared Development - Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Rural Revitalization

The subtopics may include rural e-commerce; technology empowering rural revitalization; urban-rural integration development; entrepreneurship of youth and women; rural industry integration development promoting farmers' income; construction of a beautiful and livable new rural area; agriculture, poverty reduction and sustainable development in developing countries.

V. Participants and Scale

It is proposed to invite representatives of the three UN Rome-based agencies for food and agriculture, representatives of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and other international organizations, representatives of embassies in China, well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad, representatives of domestic enterprises, social organizations and grass-roots organizations, representatives of overseas students in China and media to attend the seminar. The scale of the meeting was about 80 online and offline, including about 40 foreign representatives.

VI. Meeting Arrangement

The seminar includes the opening ceremony, two plenary sessions and release session. The release session includes the release of the award list of the third call of Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices, the launching of the fourth call, and the launching of the Global Poverty Reduction Case Series 2022 and the Global Poverty Report 2022.

VII. Language

Simultaneous interpretation in Chinese and English will be provided.
