C. Mahesh Gamage had three weeks training workshop on Juncao Technology at FAFU in 2017 and 2018. Through the training he acquired knowledge of mushrooms, and cultivation technology with Juncao plants and decided to establish a modern mushroom farm in Sri Lanka with a view of enculturating mushroom eating culture in Sri Lanka. After arriving back in Colombo, a land was immediately purchased in Kalutara district where weather is supportive for cultivation of mushrooms. He became a private sector entrepreneur of Teclink International Pvt., Ltd.

Now the farm is in the last stage of the construction of 1st phase, which includes a laboratory, packing room and six growing sheds to cater to 50,000 substate packs. The initial anticipated harvest for a month is 2 metric tons by the end of 2021.

Currently, the mushroom spawn production is completed with 5 oyster mushroom varieties.
