The WFP Centre of Excellence for Rural Transformation (WFP China COE) organizes a comprehensive webinar series on Agricultural Disaster Managementfrom June 25 to July 16, 2026. The webinar consists of four sessions and provides a collaborative platform for knowledge exchange among developing countries to explore practical tools, operational models, and proven technologies for effective agricultural disaster management and safeguarding food security. The four sessions are as follows:
Session I: Multi-stakeholder Coordination to Protect Agricultural Livelihoods
Session II: Early Warning and Impact-Based Forecasting for Disaster-Ready Agriculture
Session III: Farmer - Centric Innovations for Agricultural Disaster Risk Reduction
Session IV: Technological Solutions for Addressing Waterlogging and Safeguarding Water Access
In response to the increasing frequency and intensity of agricultural disasters, the webinar series provides a comprehensive overview of emerging approaches to agricultural disaster management under climate change. Across four sessions, experts introduced anticipatory action frameworks, multi‑hazard early warning systems, and impact‑based forecasting tools that strengthen preparedness and protect vulnerable agricultural livelihoods. The series introduces China’s MAZU multihazard early warning solution and ESCAP’s impactbased forecasting tools, demonstrating how integrated climate, exposure, and vulnerability data strengthen agricultural preparedness. It further highlights farmercentric innovations, including China’s publicprivate agricultural insurance model and localized digital warning services delivered through a digital tool that provides targeted agricultural disaster alerts and guidance. The final session presents technological solutions for waterlogging mitigation—such as digital twin systems, smart drainage equipment, and ecoengineering measures—alongside solarpowered pump technologies that expand water access while reducing costs and emissions. These shared solutions provide a valuable reference for developing countries seeking to strengthen their own disaster preparedness and build more resilient agriculture disaster reduction systems.
You can access the four webinar sessions in English, French, and Spanish via the links provided in the table below.
