Technical Guidance,Rice Post-harvest Management,Rice Value Chain

WFP Centre of Excellence for Rural Transformation (WFP China COE) and WFP Regional Centre of Excellence against Hunger and Malnutrition (CERFAM) jointly launched the China Africa Rice Value Chain Development Project in March 2021. An Online training workshop on rice post-harvest management was organized with the support of Chinese experts from Jiangsu University and Henan Technology University in February 2022. This training developed nine volumes of technical guidance.

Volume 1 is an in-depth guide that offers essential advice on the use and maintenance of agricultural machinery, with a focus on tractors and their applications in rice farming. It covers the classification of tractor types, operational procedures, and safety requirements for walking tractors, which are particularly suited for use in paddy fields and small dry fields. It also provides maintenance schedules and troubleshooting tips for rice transplanters and harvesters, ensuring efficient post-harvest management. The guide looks ahead to future trends in agricultural machinery, advocating for large-scale, multi-functional, intelligent, and precision equipment to advance farming practices.
