Guidelines for the Construction of Modern Grain Warehouses in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province

According to the national "Key Technical Points for High-Standard Grain Warehouse Construction (Trial)", "Wuxi Municipal 14th Five-Year Plan for Grain and Strategic Reserves Development" and Jiangsu Provincial Food and Strategic Reserves Administration's "Modern Grain Warehouse Construction and Management Guidelines", and following the principle of"being technology-based, innovation-driven, demonstrative and application-oriented”, the Wuxi Municipal Food and Strategic Reserves Bureau compiled and released the "Guidelines for the Construction of Modern Grain Warehouses in Wuxi", which covers eight major aspects:

1. Modern warehouse types: Bulk grain bungalow warehouse (bungalow warehouse with naturally ventilated roof) and double-deck shallow round warehouse are listed as modern warehouse types that are prioritised in Wuxi.

A total of five new bulk grain bungalow warehouses will be built, with a storage capacity of 62,000 tons. When construction is completed, the five new warehouses and the existing 11 bungalow warehouses built in the first phase will form a cluster of bungalow warehouses with a total storage capacity of 148,000 tons. These bulk grain bungalow warehouses are China’s most advanced double-deck bungalow warehouses equipped with technologies of naturally ventilated roof, cross ventilation and nitrogen-filled low-oxygen grain preservation. Among them, the double-deck naturally ventilated roof uses the height difference caused by the roof slope and the setting of shutters to create a differencein air pressure and heat pressure in the insulation layer and produce a chimney-like effect, by which accumulated heat is discharged rather than transmitted down to the grain pile, a heat insulation effectis achieved, energy consumption of ventilationis reduced, and grain is well preserved.

2. Green storage of grain: Promote the application of ventilation, controlled atmosphere (nitrogen) storage, low-temperature biological pest control, active temperature control and other grain storage technologies to achieve high-quality grain storage

3. Grain loss reduction: Increase the application of technologies such as integrated grain transportation, grain drying system, and in-warehouse grain management to reduce grain waste and losses

4. Low carbon emission and environmental protection: Actively promote the application of dust removal, noise reduction, clean energy, photovoltaic energy and other technologies

5. Efficient logistics: Promote the application of technologies such as multimodal transport, bulk grain entry and exit, and point-to-point transportation to improve logistics efficiency

6. Intelligent equipment: Promote the use of intelligent equipment such as sampling, grain cooling, grain surface temperature control systems, shallow round silos that prevent crushingand grading, bulk grain unloading and dust suppression equipment, and accelerate iterative upgradeof technology
