China’s grain conservation and loss reduction standards system aims to minimize grain losses and enhance resource utilization efficiency through multi-stage strategies, legal safeguards, standard formulation, and pilot practices. The framework spans eight critical post-harvest stages—production, harvesting, storage, transportation, processing, retail, and consumption—emphasizing the importance of scientific management and technological application. A cooperative mechanism has been established to foster stakeholder engagement. Various measures have been implemented to promote the adoption of standards, including public awareness campaigns, green storage pilot projects, policy support, and talent cultivation. Pilot initiatives explore intelligent storage technologies and standardized management models, supported by fiscal incentives and cross-sector experience-sharing. This system is poised to strengthen food security and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
